Mumbai: The nine Muslim accused in the Malegaon 2006 blasts will continue to hang between hope and despair at least till 17th Feb when the special MCOCA court here in Mumbai will hear their plea for bail. The court on 9th Feb. deferred the case as the CBI probing the case could not submit a certified copy of RSS pracharak and terror mastermind Swami Aseemanand’s confession.
The accused had filed the petition for bail after Assemanand confessed before a Delhi magistrate of his role in the serial blasts in the Maharashtra town in Sep 2006 killing 35 people and injuring more than 100. Soon after the blasts, the local police picked Muslim youths and held them responsible for the blasts.
The counsel for CBI told the court that the CBI official related to the case has gone Gujarat for probe and so they be given time for reply. In earlier hearing the court had asked CBI to submit a certified copy of the confession of Aseemanand.
