Srinagar : Two militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit were gunned down in a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir Wednesday, a police spokesman said here.
He said troops of 23 Punjab regiment and police early Wednesday surrounded a house in Bandipore district’s Brar village, 50 km from here, on specific information about the presence of a group of militants.
“Two militants trapped in the house resorted to indiscriminate fire, which was duly retaliated and in the ensuing encounter two Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were eliminated,” he added.
Identifying the slain militants as Saqib and Huzaifa, both Pakistani nationals, the spokesman said that one house suffered damage in the encounter.
“Two AK-47 rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the site of the gunfight.”
