Ahmedabad : New Zealand bowlers blasted out Zimbabwe for a paltry 162 in a Group A match of the World Cup at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera here Friday.
It was a fighting 44 from opener Brendan Taylor that gave Zimbabwe some hope of posting a competitive score after captain Elton Chigumbura opted to bat.
Fast bowler Tim Southee spat fire to pick up three wickets for 29 while captain Daniel Vettori and Kyle Mills picked up two wickets apiece.
Zimbabwe failed to get their act together right from the start and Taylor watched as his team mates fell around him. But he continued his stroke play and with Greg Lamb (18) added 40 runs for the sixth wicket that took Zimbabwe past three figures.
Prosper Utseya also offered some resistance down the order with a gritty knock of 36 and helped Zimbabwe go past the 150-run mark.
