PM commends Indian Navy for foiling piracy attempts

New Delhi : Tackling cross-border terrorism and piracy requires the cooperation of several states, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said here Friday, commending the Indian Navy for its efforts in foiling piracy in the Arabian Sea.

“India has a strong interest in the security of the sea lanes,” the prime minister said at the India Today conclave.

The navy, he said, had “done a commendable task in foiling attempts at piracy in the Arabian Sea”.
