Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today observed the 113th death anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of AMU. The vice chancellor, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis paid his tributes to the founder by spreading floral chadar on Sir Syed’s grave situated in the premises of AMU Jamia Masjid. Sir Syed died at the age of 81 years in the year 1898 in Aligarh.

A press release by the university termed Sir Syed’s death anniversary as a “somber occasion when the university community celebrates the event as a day of introspection and resolve to carry forward the vision and mission of the AMU founder and to champion the cause of spreading education far and wide particularly among the marginalized Muslims.” University officials, faculty members and the students participated in remembering the great philosopher cum reformer with a traditional solemnity.
