Maruti Suzuki recalls 13,157 diesel cars

By IANS,

New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car maker, Wednesday said it will recall 13,157 diesel engine cars across its three top selling models – Swift Dzire, Swift and Ritz, to replace suspected faulty parts.

The company will inspect the “connecting rod bolt” for 13,157 units of Swift Dzire (4,505 cars), Swift (6,841 cars) and Ritz (1,811 cars) diesel cars with engines manufactured between Nov 13, 2010, and Dec 4, 2010, Maruti Suzuki said in a statement.

“If the connecting rod bolt is found defective, the company will replace the component free of cost,” it said.

The company has already dispatched new parts to its dealer workshops and would contact owners of the cars for the replacement of the part.

“Users who purchased after Nov 13, 2010, can check the website www.marutisuzuki.com to ascertain if their diesel engine car is among the above mentioned vehicles,” the statement said.

“Customers need to fill in the engine number (D13A followed by 7 digits) on the computer screen. Engine number is embossed on vehicle ID plate and also on the vehicle registration documents.”

Customers may also contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer workshop to ascertain if their car is amongst the above vehicles.
