Dhaka : Two Bangladeshi port workers who accidentally got trapped in a container that was shipped to Singapore have been found after three weeks. One of them died and the second was found starved and exhausted.
Din Islam, 30, was recuperating at a hospital in Singapore after workers at the Pasir Panjang Terminal found him.
The other man – Alamgir, who was in his 30s – was found dead.
The container was shipped from Bangladesh two weeks ago, bdnews24 reported citing Singapore’s The Straits Times daily.
Police said both men were believed to be port workers at the Chittagong Port. They were trapped inside the container by accident while taking a nap in it.
When they woke up, they found the door of the container shut. They shouted and banged on the container walls to attract attention. But with the container buried amid thousands of steel containers in the port, no one was alerted to their situation.
