New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and wife Gursharan Kaur returned home after a five-day trip to China and Kazakhstan, during which he met with foreign leaders and attended a summit of the five fastest emerging economies of the world.
In China, Manmohan Singh participated in the 3rd summit of the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) and also met separately with the presidents of the four fellow nations.
In Kazakhstan, Manmohan Singh met with President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the prime minister and some other ministers of the energy-rich Central Asian country.
During his short trip there, India and Kazakhstan signed seven agreements, including a key nuclear pact and a deal that gave India’s ONGC Videsh Ltd 25 percent stake in Satpayev oil exploration block in the hydrocarbon rich north Caspian Sea.
