Shillong : Shillong Lajong won 2-1 against Vasco to move to the top of the table in the second division I-League footbal’s final phase at the Polo Ground here Thursday.
The win takes Lajong to 10 points from four matches, while Vasco slipped to second spot with nine points from as many games.
Seikhohao Tuboi (45+2) amd Aibor Khongee (86th) struck for the local team while Joy Ferrao scored for the Goan out-fit in the 61st.
Lajong dominated the proceedings right from the start and opened the scoring at the stroke of half time when Seikhohao Tuboi volleyed in a Zenith Mashangva’s cross.
After the breather, Vasco went all out in the attack and found the equaliser when Joy Ferrao tapped home in the 61st minute after being set-up with a precise pass from Sachin Gawas.
But Vasco were soon reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Milagrio Medeira was flashed the red card for handling the ball outside the 18 yard box.
Lajong were quick to seize the opportunity and sealed the match through a header from Aibor Khongee off Zenith’s cross in the 86th minute.
