Delhi to open more state-run retail outlets

New Delhi : The Delhi government is planning to open more branches of Kendriya Bhandar, state-run retail outlets, in the government colonies to provide people with quality products at reasonable prices.

After interacting with the Resident Welfare Assocaitions (RWA) from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said: “It has been decided to commission more Kendriya Bhandars in the government colonies, which would go a long way in making available essential commodities at the doorsteps of the residents.”

Grocery, consumer household items, medicines etc are sold through Kendriya Bhandar retail outlets located at convenient locations in Delhi.

The items are reasonably priced with a nominal margin.

Functioning under the aegis of the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions, the organisation supplies to the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the prime minister’s residence and the Parliament House through Institutional Sales Unit (ISU) on regular basis.

Dikshit also said that she has discussed the issue with the Delhi food and supplies department.

The representatives from various RWA also demanded construction and strengthening of boundary walls of the colonies and installation of security gates.

After the meeting Dikshit said that she will interact with the other RWAs and traders’ associations in the city in a phased manner.
