Ranchi : The Jharkhand vigilance bureau Monday interrogated R.K. Anand, executive president of the National Games Organising Committee (NGOC), in connection with allegations that equipment for the event held here in February were purchased at inflated rates.

Anand, who is also the president of the Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA), was questioned at the vigilance bureau office here for nearly half an hour.

“The allegations against me are false,” Anand told reporters after his interrogation.

Jharkhand vigilance bureau has lodged a first information report (FIR) against Anand and other top officials of the JOA.

The association’s general secretary S.M. Hashmi and treasurer Madhukant Pathak were interrogated in March.

The state government reportedly suffered losses worth crores of rupees due to the purchase of sports goods at inflated rates.
