Lucknow: Amidst talks of delinking religion from politics in the country, the Azamgarh-based outfit Rashtriya Ulema Council (RUC) on Thursday advocated amalgamation of religion and politics for eradicating corruption from public life.

The RUC during its worker’s meet at Lucknow on Thursday ruled out the possibility of misuse of religion for polarising the votes during elections. “Being true to one religion is necessary for doing politics of principles. It applied to both Hindu and Muslim leaders,” remarked RUC chief, Maulana Amir Rashadi on Thursday. He stated that any one true to his religion will never be against other’s religion. “He will not spread hatred towards other religions. The issue of misuse of religion for garnering votes will not come up in such cases,” he said.

No religion permits corrupt means to earn money. So it is better to follow one’s religion,” he said. He claimed that some politicians are misusing the religions for their vested interests. He claimed that political parties have promoted corruption and every party minted money and raise alarm against each other.

Rashadi also claimed that reservation on caste lines should be abolished as it is further creating a divide in the society. “It is better to formulate a reservation on the basis of financial status. Any poor person should be given reservation benefit even if he is from higher caste,” he said.

Regarding the future plan of the outfit Madani stated that they will be fielding their candidates in coming assembly elections. The outfit will also contest local bodies elections and will promote candidates with clean image.
