Ranchi: Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) president R.K. Anand was interrogated for the third time Friday by vigilance bureau officials in connection with a scam related to the 34th National Games held in the state.
According to sources in vigilance bureau, Anand was interrogated for more than two hours at the bureau office here, on allegations that equipment needed for the national games, held here in February, were purchased at higher rates.
Anand was interrogated twice last month by vigilance officials who wanted to know details of the purchases. Sources revealed that Anand blamed the JOA general secretary S.M. Hasmi, treasurer Madhukant Pathak and then sports director P.C. Mishra for the scam which caused loss of crores of rupees to the state government.
An FIR had been lodged against Anand, Hasmi, Pathak, Misra and others by the vigilance bureau last year, and the houses of Hasmi and Pathak were raided in March this year and they were later interrogated.
