On Board Air India One: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday asserted that the DMK is still a partner in his coalition government though the southern ally’s two high-profile MPs have been jailed in the 2G spectrum scam case.”As of now the DMK is our partner and there is no change in that,” Manmohan Singh told reporters aboard a special aircraft on his way back from a six-day, two-nation tour of Africa.
He was responding to a question on whether the DMK has split from the United Progressive Alliance-II government after former communications minister Andimuthu Raja and Kanimozhi, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s daughter, were jailed in the 2G spectrum case.
Raja is accused of selling precious 2G spectrum airwaves to select companies at rock bottom prices. Kanimozhi has been implicated in the money trail of the kickbacks received.
