Two Maoists surrender in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Two Maoist guerrillas, including a woman, Thursday surrendered and handed over Rs.10 lakh collected illegally from people as levy in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, police said.

Prakash Rana alias Samardeep and Anjali Hembrom of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) gave up a rifle and a pistol, apart from the cash, police said.

As per the provisions of the state’s surrender policy, they were given Rs.50,000 each.

In the last one year, more than 32 guerrillas have surrendered in the state.
