M.V. Tanksale is new CMD of Central Bank Of India

Mumbai : Veteran banker M.V. Tanksale took over as the new chairman-cum-managing director of the state-owned Central Bank of India here Wednesday, an official said.

Prior to this, Tanksale was the executive director of the Punjab National Bank since March 2009.

He started his career as an officer with Union Bank of India in 1974 from Gwalior and worked his way up the ranks to reach the top post.

Tanksale will hold the post till July 31, 2013.

Described as “a prudent banker with a vision,” Tanksale was instrumental in introducing many innovations in the banking field, especially in the area of e-banking products, and new initiatives like insurance and mutual funds.

He pioneered the ‘Transaction Banking Division’ which offered a wide range of products and services to customers on a technology-based platform.

Tanksale holds a science degree and a masters in English literature, besides an array of banking qualifications.
