New Delhi : A 20-year-old man, frustrated and angry with his family, allegedly stoned his eight-year-old brother to death near their home in southwest Delhi, police said Sunday.

“The accused, Sonu, in his interrogation confessed that after his marriage five months ago, he was not given due care and affection by other family members. He started feeling lonely and dejected,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Shalini Singh said.

“To get back the family’s attention, he decided to get rid of his younger brother Deepak. Sonu also made several attempts and took the victim to a forest ridge area but failed.

“But on Wednesday morning he lured the victim to a jungle on some pretext. At a secluded place he picked up a stone and repeatedly struck it to Deepak’s head till the victim fell dead,” she added.

The official said that after killing his brother, Sonu resumed his duty as peon at a well-known school in Vasant Kunj area.

The victim’s family, belonging to the labour class and living in Kusumpur Phari, registered a missing person compliant for Deepak at the Vasant Kunj police station the same day.

As the investigation began, Sonu joined the search and found the body in the jungle later in the evening.

Police later recovered a stone having blood strains from the same location.
