New Delhi : Updating information about the injured or those missing in the Mumbai blasts and offering help of all kinds, the virtual world platform Twitter is being used to reach out to victims of the Wednesday attack.
A group of people on Twitter, for instance, have put together a detailed datasheet of the people who have been injured in the blasts and the hospitals they have been admitted to.
Open to be updated by others and constantly being done so, there is also a list of those who have gone missing after the triple blasts in the city.
At least 17 people have been killed and 131 injured when three blasts rocked the city Wednesday evening. The terror attacks took place in central and south Mumbai – in Dadar, Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House.
Spreading important updates on the situation, three innocuous hashtags – #here2help, #needhelp, #mumbai – have been offering all possible help to the victims, their families and friends.
A number of people have also detailed the kind of help they can offer – blood donation of a particular group, food, refuge – for those in need, giving their location and contact number.
People from all across the country, from Kolkata, Delhi and elsewhere have poured help through the social networking site.
“My blood group is O-positive, anyone need any help across any hospital contact me regarding blood donation,” Amit Das tweeted.
Padmalatha, who hails from Mumbai and lives in Texas, said: “I am far away from my motherland but I will go there and donate blood soon as it’s always needed everywhere.”
People also re-tweeted the helpline numbers of different hospitals and blood banks.
There were others who sought help.
Pat Gerrity said: “I am depressed, I only want help, but I’m too afraid to ask for it.”
Disha Shetty said she has information of a 25-year-old girl, Varsha Karia, who was injured in the blasts and is admitted in the King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital.
“Please pass this message to her parents if you know this girl, Varsha Karia, age-25, injured in blast and admitted in KEM hospital,” she said.
