Moscow : The chief of the Chinese army’s general staff has met Russia’s defence minister to discuss military cooperation between the two countries, Xinhua reported.
Chen Bingde, who met Anatoli Serdyukov Thursday, said bilateral military relations “were in good shape” and there had been “dramatic progress” in recent years.
Chen – the chief of the General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) – said further advancement of military ties would help promote the China-Russia strategic cooperative partnership.
It was also conducive to peace and stability in the region and the world, Chen said.
Serdyukov also lauded the relationship between the two countries and the two militaries.
Chen arrived in the Russian capital Wednesday for an official good-will visit.
Russia is the first leg of his three-nation tour, which will also take him to Ukraine and Israel.
