Himachal disrespects national emblem, says complaint

By IANS,

Shimla : A Delhi resident who had earlier accused boxer Vijender Singh of insulting the national emblem has now lodged a similar complaint against the Himachal Pradesh government.

The state government has violated the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act of 2005 and the State Emblem of India (Regulation of Use) Rules of 2007 in its official logo, complainant Naresh Kadyan has alleged.

In an online complaint to police dated Sep 15, Kadyan said the Himachal Pradesh official logo is without the inscription of the words ‘Satyameva Jayate’.

“It’s objectionable and the national emblem of India is not completely adopted, which is the violation of the legislation. The government should correct the mistake,” Kadyan told IANS Sunday.

Kadyan had complained against Vijender Singh for printing the national emblem on his wedding card. In this case, no action has been initiated by Haryana Police, he said.

According to him, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments and Haryana Police and Haryana Public Service Commission have also violated the national emblem. “Complaints have been filed with the respective states,” Kadyan added.

The Punjab government corrected the mistake after his intervention last year, he said.

The government – both at the central and state level – is lacking in prosecuting people responsible for dishonouring the national emblem, Kadyan said.
