Islamabad : Tents, mosquito nets and food supplies were distributed in the worst flood-affected districts in southern Pakistan’s Sindh province.
Farhatullah Babar, spokesman to President Asif Ali Zardari, said Monday that over 31,000 tents, 23,000 blankets, 800 water purification units, mosquito nets and food items were distributed in Mirpur Khas district.
Relief materials were also distributed in Sanghar, Tharparkar and Umerkot districts of the province, the official APP news agency reported.
Zardari has directed the authorities to address the issue of rain water accumulation in various areas of Sindh.
The province has been reeling under a severe flood since mid-August due to incessant rains.
Thousands of people have been displaced and faced grave risk of water-borne diseases.
Water clogging due to lack of drainage system is worsening the situation in many areas.
