Thiruvananthapuram : The Kerala assembly, celebrating its golden jubilee, will soon have an archive of all speeches made on the floor of the house.
“We have begun to record all speeches that are made in the assembly and store it permanently for the records,” Speaker K. Radhakrishnan told reporters here Tuesday.
While speeches were recorded before, they used to be deleted after verification of their written version.
The speaker said that it had been found that there were very few audio recordings of former legislators and from now on all speeches would be stored permanently.
As part of its year-long golden jubilee celebrations that began in April, the assembly is organising an exhibition on the history of parliamentary democracy with help from the central government.
“We have decided to hold the exhibition at five major cities in the state. It will have pictures depicting the parliament and the assembly over the last many years,” said Radhakrishnan.
