Patna : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley suffered dehydration and were rushed to a medical centre Tuesday evening minutes before they entered Patna, along with party stalwart L.K. Advani on his Jan Chetna Yatra, said a party worker.
Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Jaitley, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, were taken ill around 7.30 p.m. when Advani’s yatra was approaching the Gandhi Setu in Patna.
“The two were rushed to a private medical centre in an ambulance accompanying Advani’s yatra. Their condition is stable but they have been kept under observation at Hotel Maurya, where all the BJP leaders are staying,” said the party worker.
The two leaders, along with Advani and other party leaders, were coming towards Patna after addressing a public meeting around 7 p.m. at Hajipur, 25 km from Patna, when they started complaining of uneasiness.
Advani, 83, earlier in the day rolled out from Sitab Diara, the birthplace of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan, his sixth road campaign, the Jan Chetna Yatra, that will take him through 100 districts in 38 days.
