New Delhi : Former India captain Kapil Dev Thursday said Harbhajan Singh, dropped from the India squad, is getting tough competition from young tweakers Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin and will only emerge stronger from it.
“I think it is good for Harbhajan that he is getting tough competition from Ashwin and Ojha. This will only help Bhajji to emerge stronger,” said Kapil.
Kapil said the ace off-spinner will make a strong comeback in international cricket.
“Harbhajan is a tough guy and I think he will make a successful comeback in international cricket. It is just a matter of time,” he said.
Harbhajan was overlooked again as the Indian selectors Thursday named an unchanged 15-member squad for the second cricket Test against the West Indies starting in Kolkata Monday.
What made matters worse for Harbhajan was that he went wicket-less while leading Punjab in the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh.
Harbhajan was overlooked during the four-match ODI series against England at home before being dropped for the first Test against the West Indies.
The 31-year-old feisty off-spinner suffered a stomach injury during the second Test in England and was ruled out of the last two matches and the limited-overs series that followed.
