BJP minister complains to Sonia over Bhuria’s remarks

By IANS,

Bhopal: A woman minister in Madhya Pradesh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi seeking action against the Congress’ state chief for his alleged derogatory remarks against women.

In the letter sent Friday, but released to media Saturday, School Education Minister Archana Chitnis expressed anguish over the remarks of Congress state president Kantilal Bhuria on the women ministers of the government and state BJP leaders.

On the one hand, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government affirms the uplift of women in the country but, on the other, the state party head make derogatory remarks on women in public, Chitnis said.

Addressing a party function in Jhabua district Thursday, Bhuria allegedly said that the two woman ministers in the government, Chitnis and Ranjana Baghel, act like “nachnewaali” (courtesans).

Bhuria had also called state BJP leaders “ulloo” (owls).

Chitnis demanded strict action against Bhuria.
