Pune : Bangladesh’s army chief General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen will be the chief guest at the passing out parade of the National Defence Academy (NDA) here Nov 29, an official said Monday.
“He will become only the third foreign dignitary to review the passing out parade in NDA’s history,” said NDA Commandant Lt. Gen. Jatinder Singh.
The passing out parade of the 121st NDA course will be preceded Nov 28 by a convocation ceremony to be presided over by Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala.
Chinese Premier Chou En-Lai was the chief guest for NDA’s 11th course in December 1956. Nepal Army’s chief, Gen. Pyar Jung Thapa, was chief guest in November 2004.
This year, 318 cadets, including 16 from foreign countries, will pass out after completing the three-year 121st NDA course of the country’s premiere tri-services training academy.
The comprise 215, including all the foreign cadets, from the army, 41 from navy and 62 from the air force.
The NDA’s present strength is 2004 cadets, including 80 foreigners from Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and the Maldives.
