Aligarh: A symposium was organized to mark the 19th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition in Aligarh on 6th December 2011. The speakers demanded the government to bring the culprits to justice through fast-track court. They slammed the government for its failure to act against the people involved in the demolition.
Addressing the program, Jasim Mohammad, Editor of the Aligarh Movement Magazine, said: “In fact at the time of Babri Masjid demolition, Indian security forces and the administrative machinery were put on test in which they failed because if they could not save a mosque situated in the centre of the country, then how will they save the borders of the county.”
In his speech, AMU Executive Council member Dr. Mohammad Shahid said that after demolition of Babri Masjid, planned riots were organized and the culprits were not punished, consequently Gujarat genocide took place.
Social scienitist N. Jamal Ansari pointed out that the then central government had full information about fascist designs and central forces were deputed at Ayodhya but still the mosque was demolished because there was no political will to save it.
The symposium was organized by Aligarh based organization Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC).
