Pakistan to open 30 new passport offices abroad

Islamabad : Pakistan will open 30 new passport offices in 21 countries to help overseas Pakistanis, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said.

Malik said Thursday that three months time has been given to the authorities concerned to set up the offices with facilities to issue machine readable passports, Associated Press of Pakistan reported .

The offices would be established in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Canada, Indonesia and the US, as also in Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul and Moscow.

Following a demand from overseas Pakistanis, all new passports will now carry the name of the mother in addition to the existing particulars.
