Majlis to review Interpol’s performance on AMIA

By IRNA

Tehran : Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is to study the performance of Interpol on AMIA case on Sunday, it was announced on Saturday.

The commission will review Interpol’s decision on issuance of red warnings for five Iranian nationals.

The Interpol charged a number of Iranian nationals in its annual General Assembly with alleged involvement in explosions at two Jewish centers in Argentina, including the buildings of Argentine-Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA) in 1994, which left 85 dead and more than 250 others injured.

In the 78th Interpol General Assembly hosting 184 representatives in Morocco, Iran brought reasoning to prove that Argentine’s action on issuing red warnings for five Iranian nationals run counter to clauses two and three of Interpol’s Letter of Association.

Despite cooperation by the Islamic Republic of Iran with Argentina on AMIA case, Argentina’s judiciary system which is under Zionist influence, refused to cooperate with Iran on the issue.

“If Interpol decides to issue red warnings against Iranian nationals, there is no doubt that it had been turned into a tool in the hands of policy makers who targets other countries’ high ranking officials by issuing such red warnings,” Iran’s representative to Interpol said.

Today, Interpol issues red warnings for Iranian nationals who were not involved in the incident, and it would be turned into a policy in dealing with officials of other countries in the future, said the Iranian representative.

Iran’s judiciary has issued summons for Argentine former interior minister Carlos Corach, AMIA president Ruben Beraja, Argentine judge Juan Jose Galeano, prosecutor Eamon Mullen and Jose Barbaccia to attend a court hearing in Tehran and the Argentine justice department has been notified of this.
