Ahmedabad : One more legislator from Gujarat’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resigned from the organisation Tuesday ahead of the assembly polls next month, taking the tally of rebels to nine.
Dhanraj Kela, who represented Wadhwan in Surendranagar district, was denied ticket to contest the election as the party released the first list of candidates Sunday.
Kela blamed Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s “autocratic style of functioning” for the party’s move.
Kela said he was in talks with Uma Bharati, a former central minister who was sacked from the BJP, and could contest the election with the support of her Bharatiya Janashakti Party.
