Jammu : Indian Army chief General V.K. Singh reviewed the security along the border with Pakistan, Pakistan-administered Kashmir and China in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday, an official said.
“The general (V.K. Singh) was briefed on all security issues by the army commander (Northern Command chief Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik),” an army spokesperson here said.
“This is the first visit of the army chief to Jammu and Kashmir this year,” the spokesman added in a press release.
Gen. Singh was accompanied by the air force’s Western Command chief, Air Marshal D.C. Kumaria, and Director General Military Operations Lt. Gen. A.K. Chowdhary, sources said.
The army chief’s visit to the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur district comes exactly a week after US Director of Intelligence James Clapper said that the Indian Army could be preparing for a limited conflict along the “disputed” India-China border.
