Two injured as mining bridge collapses

Panaji : Two people were injured as several mining trucks fell into a rivulet when a temporary bridge collapsed at Sesa Goa’s mine at Codli here, the company said.

According to a statement issued by Sesa Goa, a Vedanta Resources owned company and the largest mining firm in Goa, the incident occurred at 3.45 p.m. and that two members of the truck crew received minor injuries.

“Five trucks were on the bridge when the incident occurred and a few trucks fell into the nallah. There is no serious bodily injury to the drivers of these trucks. Two of the drivers have sustained minor injuries. The company has taken all the drivers to a local hospital as a precaution,” the statement said.

No police complaint has been filed in the accident so far.
