Railway inspector in dock for corruption

Mumbai : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided a railway inspector for alleged corrupt activities and amassing huge assets beyond his source of income, an official said here Sunday.

The officer Yash Mishra, who is a Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspector at Churchgate, was found to have various properties in his and family members’ names in and around Mumbai.

According to the CBI, the raids conducted in five locations over the past couple of days revealed that the officer owned two flats, one each in Dahisar, northwest Mumbai and Mira Road, the fastest growing suburb in adjacent Thane district.

In addition, the CBI found that Mishra owns three prime plots of land in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh worth over Rs.3 million, an official said.

Mishra has also invested around Rs.4 million in various shares, mutual funds, kisan vikas patras and national savings certificates, a CBI official said.

The scrutiny of other documents recovered during the raids is underway as part of the ongoing investigations.
