Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has appointed M.A Reza, the I.P.S officer of 1991 batch as the new ACP of Hyderabad. Reza who earlier had the post of Inspector General (home guard), will now hold the third highest authority in the city police hierarchy.
Reza’s transfer was part of the large scale transfer of as many as 11 IPS officers, all of them of Additional Director-General and Inspector-General rank, done by the state government on February 29.
Many see Reza’s posting as a strategic move by the Congress led state government, before the possible transfer of the present Commissioner Police of Hyderabad Abdul Khayoom Khan, who is holding the post since last 2 years. Khan had played an important role in maintaining law and order in the city during 2010 communal riots, and during the Telangana agitation.
