New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Monday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a plea of film producer Karim Morani to quash charges against him in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Justice M.L. Mehta asked the CBI to file its response by May 10.
Morani, director of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd and a Bollywood film producer, has moved the high court seeking quashing of charges made against him by the CBI in the 2G case.
Pleading to quash the charges, Morani claimed that he has no role in the 2G case. “I am not a part of conspiracy, my act is innocent,” Morani said in his petition.
The CBI has named Morani as a co-conspirator in a charge sheet for facilitating the routing of Rs.200 crore of bribe from a firm promoted by Shahid Usman Balwa to DMK-run Kalaignar TV.
The agency has also accused Morani of taking Rs.6 crore for facilitating the transaction of illegal gratification to Kalaignar TV.
