Tokyo : An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted the sea off Japan’s Iwate prefecture Tuesday, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 8.00 p.m., was estimated to be 10 km under the sea, Xinhua reported.
Tremors were mostly felt in Iwate and its neighbouring Miyagi prefecture while parts of Hokkaido prefecture were also affected.
