Family of Kashmiri students are frightened, shocked

Azamgarh: The family members of the two missing Kashmiri students of Jamiatul Falah are frightened. They are so much shocked at the reported detention of Mohammad Waseem Bhat and Sajjad Ahmed Bhat, cousin brothers, that they are unable to speak much.

Maulana Tahir Madani, Director of Jamiatul Falah, said their family is frightened and worried. The elder brother of the two had called to the madrasa get update. It seemed they were very frightened. The incident has sent frightening waves among the thousands of students of the seminary.

TCN tried to contact the family in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir over phone. None was picking calls. Only after an sms sent, a female member of the family picked the call. She too sounded frightened and weak. She confirmed the boys have not reached home and they have not got any information from police or agencies regarding their detention or arrest.

The two were coming to Delhi from Azamgarh. When their train Kaifiyat Express reached Aligarh Railway station 6:30 am on on 24th May armed personnel of UP ATS barged into the general coach and took out the two boys. According to media reports, ATS had got input that two Kashmiri suspects are going from Azamgarh to Delhi. Four days have passed, there is no official statement about the detention/arrest. Neither their family, nor the madrasa have been informed by the police.

About the two Kashmiri students
Mohammad Waseem Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat is the resident of Tarzova in Sopore area of Baramulla district. According to details in his admission form of Jamiatul Falah, Waseem’s date of birth is 08-01-1992. He did Hifz (memorized Quran) in a madrasa in Gujarat. He took admission in Arabi Awwal (first year of 5-year Alimiyat course) at Jamiatul Falah on 07-10-2010.

Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, cousin of Waseem, is the son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat. His date of birth is 13-03-1992. Sajjad did matriculation at Govt. High School, Sopore. He also took admission in Arabi Awwal at Jamiatul Falah on 24-09-2011.

Petition filed with National Commission for Minorities
While the authorities of Jamiatul Falah have approached Azamgarh SP and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, a petition has been filed with National Commission for Minorities (NCM). The panel has been urged to issue notice to UP Govt to take immediate action on the issue and order inquiry.
