Hyderabad : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will question jailed YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for two more days — Saturday and Sunday.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court Friday agreed to the CBI request for granting it custody of Jagan, as he is popularly called, for two more days for questioning in the case of his illegal assets.
The court ruled that the same conditions which applied to five-day CBI custody earlier should be followed for the two-day remand.
The court also rejected the objections raised by the MP’s lawyer to the CBI petition.
The five-day CBI custody of Jagan ended Thursday while his 14-day judicial remand is expiring Monday.
Earlier, CBI counsel argued that the agency needed to question Jagan again in view of certain information obtained from witnesses during the last few days. The court was told that several witnesses had come forward to record their statements since Jagan’s arrest.
The probe agency complained that Jagan gave evasive replies to the questions and said since the crime was committed in other states and countries, the accused needed to be questioned about several aspects of the case.
The CBI arrested Jagan May 27 and the next day the CBI special court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
