The department’s direction to police came after Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka cautioned unemployed youth against falling into the trap of fraudulent advertisements published in some newspapers regarding recruitment in the education department.

Maluka said that certain fraudulent advertisements have come to his notice and he has already directed police to arrest such people who were duping unemployed youth in the name of getting them recruited for posts in the education department.

He said the education department would give the advertisement on its official website whenever there is any vacancy in the department. The department has not authorised anyone to seek applications or sell forms for vacancies, he clarified.

The Mohali police have arrested one person who was luring unemployed youth with fraudulent advertisements, a spokesman said here.
