Campus Front demands immediate construction of AMU Murshidabad centre

By TCN News,

Kolkata: The Campus Front of India has demanded the central and state governments to take necessary actions to start the construction of the AMU special centre in Murshidabad. The students body has warned that if the construction work not started, it will start state wide agitation in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, a 12-hour strike was called by the Social Democratic Party of India on 11th July in Murshidabad to put pressure on Government for construction work at the AMU Murshidabad centre campus. This strike call was given by state President of SDPI Mr Taidul Islam at a demonstration in front of District Magistrate Office at Baharampur in Murshidabad on 4th July, 2012. The strike was also supported by Campus Front of India.

The supporters of SDPI and Campus Front blocked the NH 34 to express their anguish over government inaction in the construction of AMU Murshidabad centre. Construction work of AMU campus in Murshidabad has been stopped under the pressure of a fanatic group, the front alleged.

According to a statement from Campus Front, Police arrested more than 250 workers of SDPI and Campus Front. “The police action indicates the anti-people attitudes of West Bengal Government run by TMC-Congress. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Darjeeling and Jangal Mahal area several times. But never visited largest populated Muslim district Murshidabad after she became CM. She is totally silent about the AMU campus of Murshidabad,” said CA Raoof, General Secretary of Campus Front.
