Milli Council delegation meets Rajasthan Governor over minority welfare schemes

By TCN Staff Reporter,

Jaipur: Dissatisfied with the performance of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot particularly in regard to implementation of minority welfare schemes, a high-level state delegation of All India Milli Council on Monday met Governor Margret Alva at Governor House in Jaipur. The delegation sought her intervention to ensure speedy and proper implementation of minority welfare schemes.

“The Governor assured us she will immediately write to chief secretary of the state to look into the complaints and ensure speedy implementation of minority welfare schemes,” said Adv. Abdul Qayyum Akhtar, General Secretary of the organization.

He admits that state and central governments have announced several schemes for minorities but hardly one was implemented properly.

“Both the state and central governments have announced several schemes for the benefit of minorities but none has been properly implemented by the biased system,” alleged Adv. Akhtar.

Muslim Minority covers 95% of total minority groups in Rajasthan. In the year 2005, Sachar Committee and in the year 2006 Mishra Commission disclosed bare truth of miserable condition of Muslim community in the fields of education, economic and social segments. After these reports, the governments introduced some schemes. However, they were poorly implemented.

“…We feel that a political will to improve the living condition of Muslims through education and economic upliftment is awaken. But administrative level hurdles are created due to long standing community prejudices. The executions of schemes are delayed deliberately, so funds are barred by time,” read the memorandum submitted to the Governor.

“We, earnestly request Your Excellency to help us in this regard. The schemes or projects announced by the state Government or Central Government to be executed and implemented as per strict schedule. Your direction in this regard would carry desired results…” the delegation urged.

Despite Congress in power there have been several communal riots in the state and minority welfare schemes also are not being implemented properly. Still why do you support Congress?

“We have no alternative to Congress in the state. We cannot support BJP. That’s why we keep pressing the Congress government to correct their mistakes and properly implement minority schemes,” Adv. Akhtar said.
