Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has condemned in the strongest terms the attack on the US consulate in Libya’s Benghazi city, in which US ambassador Christopher Stevens was killed.
In a statement, the UAE’s ministry of foreign affairs called on the Libyan government to strictly abide by the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations whose articles No.22 and 29 regulate diplomatic immunities and practices and calls for protection of diplomatic missions by hosting states.
The ministry also called for a quick and transparent investigation into the attack in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.
