Sydney : At least 35 people have been arrested on Sydney’s streets over the weekend for alcohol-related crimes.
About 200 police officers, as part of “Operation Rushmore”, descended on the streets Friday and Saturday night in an effort to curb anti-social behaviour, the Australian Associated Press reported Sunday.
Police would be back on the streets to target alcohol-fuelled behaviour at various points throughout the summer, an official said.
“People should be able to go out and enjoy themselves on a night-out in the city without being pestered by drunken fools,” he said.
Over the two nights, police also performed around 1,400 random breath tests.
