New Delhi : A total of 554 urban renewal projects worth Rs.62,253 crore were sanctioned under the urban infrastructure section and governance sub-mission till June 30 this year, an official release said Thursday.
“The Additional Central Assistance (ACA) committed by the government towards meeting the central government’s share of the total project cost for these 554 projects is Rs.28,779 crore, out of which Rs.17,853 crore has been released to the mission cities,” it said.
The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission is a city-modernisation scheme launched by the government in 2005.
It envisaged an investment of over Rs.1,00,000 crore during a period of seven years from 2005-06 to 2011-12 with a committed central government share of Rs.66,000 crore.
