Washington : Five Indian American Malayalees as well as veteran Indian diplomat Vijay K. Nambiar will be honoured in New York for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center will honour the five Indian American Malayalees for their outstanding achievements in their field of specialization or for their service to the society.
The awardees will be honoured at the Kerala Center’s annual banquet Nov 3 in Long Island, a communique said.
Nambiar, who is under secretary general and special adviser of the UN secretary-general on Myanmar, will be the chief guest and he will be honoured for his services to the UN.
The keynote speaker on the occasion will be Geeta Menon, dean, Undergraduate College and Abraham Krasnoff professor of Global Business, Stern School of Business, New York University. Menon will also be honoured for her achievement in the field of education.
Others who will be honoured are Joy Kuttiyani, president of Kerala Samajam of South Florida; Viju Menon, vice president of Supply Chain Management at Verizon, the largest wireless carrier in the US; Narayanan Neithalath who is an associate professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ; and Roy Thomas, deputy director at New York State Mental Health Department.
The award ceremony will be followed by a performance by WANTED ASHIQ, a premier Bollywood and fusion dance troupe.
