Delhi youth drowns in Yamuna during idol immersion

New Delhi : A 17-year-old youth drowned in the Yamuna river when he along with his friends went for immersion of Goddess Durga idols, police said Wednesday.

“Vikas was a resident of north-east Delhi’s New Seelampur. He, along with five friends was carrying out religious rituals near Wazirabad Bridge when the incident took place at around 5 p.m.,” said a senior police officer.

Locals immediately informed police and the Delhi Fire Service. “A search for Vikas’s body is on,” the official said.
