Tehran : Rapporteur of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said on Dec 8 2007 that the US has lied to the world population about Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities in its recent report.
Jalali made the remarks commenting on a report released on December 3 by the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) about Iran’s nuclear program.
“Unlike what was claimed by the 16 US intelligence bodies, Iran has never pursued a program to develop nuclear weapons even before 2003 and this is another lie to deceive international community,” Jalali said.
The US report said Iran had halted an atomic weapons program in 2003.
“The claim that Iran had changed its nuclear weapons programs since 2003 is a mere lie to show that it was the US pressures that forced Iran to stop its nuclear weapons program.
“By raising such claims, the US officials intend to legitimize continuation of more pressures against Iran,” the MP argued.
Noting that the “The extremist Republicans at the White House are still telling lies to the world population,” Jalali stressed, “Such fabrications would soon be unveiled to the world community.”
The report, provided by 16 US security foundations, also acknowledged that Iran has not been pursuing a nuclear weapons development program.
The foundations stressed that they do not “assume that Iran intends to acquire nuclear weapons.”
