Bihar issues show cause notice to officials for laxity

By IANS,

Patna : Bihar has issued show cause notices to 175 officials for their failure to provide funds to beneficiaries of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) during the 2012-2013 financial year in the state, an official Monday said.

Amrit Lal Meena, secretary of the state Rural Development Department (RDD), said that show cause notices were issued to 164 Block Development Officers (BDO) and 11 Deputy Development Commissioners (DDC) in nearly two dozen districts.

“It was found that less than 80 percent beneficiaries of the IAY were not provided funds by BDOs and DDCs despite two special drives to provide funds to them. The concerned officials have been directed to explain the cause of their failure to provide funds to beneficiaries,” Meena said.

Bihar Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra said: “We will initiate action against officials after they submit their replies to the show cause notice,” he said.
