BJP bats for linking voting to welfare schemes in Himachal

Shimla : The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Himachal Pradesh Friday decided to link the casting of vote with various government programmes and welfare schemes in the state.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

“Link the casting of vote with availing of various civic services, social welfare and other benefit-oriented schemes of the government of India and respective state governments,” a cabinet resolution said.

It also thanked the electors, especially women and youths, for coming out in good numbers to exercise their franchise.

The state registered a voter turnout of 73.92 percent in the Nov 4 assembly elections. The poll results will be declared Dec 20.
