Kolkata: England completed the formalities by removing the last wicket to get India all out for 247 in the second over on the final day of the third Test at the Eden Gardens here Sunday.
India resumed at 239/9 overnight with R. Ashwin, 83 and Prgayan Ojha, 3 at the crease, but the latter was castled by James Anderson in the second over of the day.
Ashwin remained unbeaten at 91 missing out on a deserving second test century. The duo added 50 runs for the last wicket to set England a victory target of 41 runs.
Ashwin was the top scorer for India followed by Virender Sehwag (49) and Gautam Gambhir (40).
For the visitors Anderson was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/38, while fellow pacer Steve Finn returned figures of 3/45.
The spinner duo of Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar took two and one wicket respectively.
